Year 9 English

By Gena Bagley | Posted: Friday March 8, 2024

9G spent the first half of the term focusing on the mechanics of letter writing. Their task required them to write to a friend encouraging them to take up a sport or hobby. Their writing needed to have an inspirational register, use colloquial language, imperative sentences and second personal pronoun usage.

Enjoy Zac's work.

Hey Sam,

Bro, you gotta hear me out on this one! Touch rugby, mate, it's the absolute bomb, and I reckon you should give it a crack. I know you love rugby, but hey touch is about giving everything, like running moves on the line or even passing the pass that no one could pass, but that's the beauty of it – everyone's learning, and it's a killer way to have a laugh while staying active.

First things first, mate, grab those boots, dust 'em off, and hit the field with us. The vibe is epic, and you'll be sliding through the wet, muddy grass like a pro in no time. Trust me, it's way more thrilling than it sounds. You'll be pulling moves you never thought you had in you - and yeah, even I was shocked when I managed to step that defender last week.

Now, I know you might be thinking, "But what about the rules, bro?" Don't sweat it, Samuel. It's all about the basics, and the boys have got your back. Plus, it's touch, not tackle; we're all mates out there. And it's about skill, not bashing heads, making enemies, it's just an amazing game where many can socialise with each other.

Sam, you've got this. Grab that oval ball, feel the grass under your boots, and let the game ignite that fire in your belly. You won't regret it, mate. The field is waiting, and so are we.

Get into it, legend!
