Milton Relay

Another beautiful day for a run on Tuesday. The boys headed down with very different-looking teams due to the interschool on the same day.

Year 9s Makai Whaanga and Roman Ireland-Jones put their hands up to support Zian Kruger and Ethan Kaina. They gave their best, but it was a very tough run this week on soft, wet ground. Ethan was the standout runner this week, enjoying the freedom of not having to run twice, and was the fastest junior in his leg. Unfortunately, they couldn't match their performance from last week and came in 7th in the junior race.

Year 10 saw Dimuthu Aruma Jayaweera Patabendige stepping up to help Connor Horne, Fergus Lloyd, and Joseph Scanelli. Hopefully, he will join the team on a more permanent basis, as he was the second-fastest runner on the team today. As a team, they improved to 6th in the junior race, narrowly pipping the Year 9s.

The senior team of William Bolter, Hossein Shirzad, Sam Hobbs, and Henry Hodgson continued to perform well, finishing second again. Sam Hobbs and William Bolter were again the fastest in their legs, with everyone in the team running very well. In spite of Henry's solid last leg and fastest run for our team, we were unable to catch first place.

Our 2nd Senior team finished 8th, with Connor Horne helping out by running the last leg. He was ably supported by Robert Lloyd, Mohit Singh, and Aditha Ranawaka. Mohit was the standout here and seemed to enjoy the somewhat reduced pressure of running in the middle of the pack.

Finally, we wish Henry, Zian, and Ethan the best of luck as they head to Invercargill this weekend for the South Island Cross Country Festival.
