Global Rowing Experience in Chengdu

Two of our rowers, Leo Garden and Hunter Ruxton, made the most of a unique opportunity over the school holidays, taking part in an outstanding rowing development and cultural experience in Chengdu, China.

The boys were selected as part of a group of 27 students from across New Zealand to attend the Global Youth Rowing Exchange, held from 11–17 April. This programme brought together young athletes to further develop their rowing skills while also immersing themselves in a rich cultural exchange.

Throughout the week, Leo and Hunter were able to train, compete, and connect with fellow rowers from different backgrounds, gaining valuable insights both on and off the water. Experiences like these not only enhance athletic performance but also broaden perspectives and build lasting international connections.
