Senior Wānanga Days will be held in weeks 3 and 4 this term.
Wānanga traditionally refers to a forum for deep discussion and the sharing of advanced knowledge, aiming to develop greater understanding.
Wānanga Days are designed to support senior student learning, especially in subjects that are disadvantaged by the regular one-hour timetable. By dedicating an entire day to a single subject, students can immerse themselves fully without the usual interruptions, while teachers can deliver more extended learning experiences.
Planning for Wānanga Days is well underway, and teachers will be discussing arrangements with their senior students over the next few weeks.
Junior classes (Years 9 and 10) will mostly operate as usual during the six Wānanga Days. However, there will also be a range of enrichment opportunities for our junior students, including guest speakers and sessions led by senior students who are not participating in Wānanga Days.
A more detailed email will be sent to senior students and their whānau next week outlining the expectations for these days.
