Tohu Teina mō ngā Tikanga / Junior Values Badges 2026 - Respect

What a fantastic way to end Term 1! At this week’s final Junior Assembly for the term, we celebrated our core value of Respect by awarding badges to 237 students. It was a proud moment to see so many boys recognised for their manners, their consideration of others, and for treating our school environment with genuine care.
This term, 70% of Year 9 and 68% of Year 10 students earned their badge. It was an incredibly close race, but Year 9 takes the win for the first term of 2026!
Thank you to our teaching staff for their dedication in recognising these efforts through positive postcards and house points. These small actions make a big difference, strengthening relationships and encouraging our students to uphold the principles of Above the Hoops. Our boys are seeing that showing respect—to themselves, their peers, and their teachers—leads to tangible recognition.

Outstanding Achievements
A few students have set the bar particularly high in attaining their Respect Values Badge:
Highest GPA for Effort (out of 5):
Year 9 – Anderson Scott 4.64
Year 10 – Yatin Gounder 4.71
Most Positive Postcards:
A massive 6 students tied for the top spot (4 from Year 9 and 2 from Year 10) with 2 postcards each this term.
Most House Points:
Icon Krainit (SN1) – 15 house points.
House Competition Standings
These badges contribute significantly to the House Competition. The standings for the Respect round are as follows:

Badges are a visible sign of your contribution to the school community. They look sharp on your tie or shirt collar. Wear them with pride over the holidays and let them be a reminder that how you treat others defines your character.
Next term’s value is Courage. What does courage mean when it comes to learning?
It’s not just about being "fearless." Courage is about the willingness to try something new, even if you might fail. It’s about standing up for what is right, even when it’s unpopular, and having the strength to ask for help when you’re stuck. So next term, boys:
Have the courage to participate - put your hand up, join a new club, or trial for a team.
Have the courage to be yourself - don't just follow the crowd; lead with your own values.
Have the courage to persevere - tackle those difficult math problems or that tough essay head-on.
Let’s come back in Term 2 ready to show some real grit and heart.
