On Wednesday 18th, Mr Gwyn Pratley and Miss Annika Marriner accompanied 68 Year 13 Business Studies students (across three classes) to the Dunedin Centre to take part in the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) Spark Tank event.
This valuable opportunity enabled students to further develop their business ideas through expert guidance. The event was facilitated by Regan Powell (YES South Island Regional Coordinator). Mentors from across the Dunedin business community worked closely with students on the day through a series of speed-coaching sessions. These sessions provided targeted feedback, helping students refine their concepts and strengthen their entrepreneurial thinking.
The event also brought together students from other local schools, creating a collaborative environment. It was great to see our students engaging with others, sharing ideas, and gaining new perspectives.
The YES programme continues to grow each year, with approximately 5,000 students participating nationwide, including around 350 in the Otago region. We are excited to see where our students' ideas and business skills come to fruition in 2026 through the Young Enterprise Scheme.
