Otago Boys’ High School congratulates Year 13 student James Henderson on his outstanding performance at the Surf Lifesaving South Island IRB Championships, where he competed alongside OBHS Old Boy Jackson Boyd.

On Saturday 14 March 2026, James and Jackson represented St Kilda Surf Life Saving Club in the Under-19 division at Warrington Beach. The championships were contested in challenging conditions that tested the skill, fitness, and teamwork of all competitors.

A difficult lane draw meant James and Jackson faced more demanding conditions than some of the other crews. Demonstrating resilience and determination, qualities strongly associated with OBHS students and old boys, the pair performed strongly to secure bronze medals in both the Mass Rescue and Assembly events.

Building on this success, James and Jackson will now compete together at the New Zealand IRB Championships in Gisborne later this month, where they will again represent their club at a national level.

James’ achievements highlight the strong OBHS tradition of service, teamwork, and excellence beyond the classroom. We wish both athletes the best of luck as they prepare for the upcoming national championships.

Well done, James and Jackson.
