Rehearsals for the upcoming Otago SGCNZ Shakespeare Festival are currently in progress for the Year 10 Drama class.

Student director, Jack Orlovich, is leading the production, with responsibility for blocking scenes, managing the rehearsal schedule and interpreting the script.

The ensemble is focusing on several key technical areas:

  • Vocal Delivery: Mastering projection and the specific rhythms of the text.

  • Stage Presence: Coordinating movement and spatial awareness within the scene.

  • Textual Analysis: Ensuring the performance accurately reflects the original dialogue and intent.

The competition features entries from multiple schools across the Otago region, with performances evaluated by a panel of industry judges. The group is working to refine their presentation ahead of the festival at the end of the month, aiming to provide a fresh interpretation of the classic material.
