The Otago Boys’ High School mountain biking group is currently making the most of Dunedin’s highest quality bike trails, training every Monday afternoon at Signal Hill.
The sessions focus on technical proficiency and strategic line selection, essential for navigating the region’s challenging, rocky terrain.
Guided by Zak Knight, a qualified coach from Mountain Bike Otago, the students are diligently working to improve their descent times and overall bike handling. This training schedule serves as a build-up to two major events in the Term One competitive calendar:
The Otago Downhill Championships at Cardrona Alpine Resort (Feb 28).
The South Island Secondary Schools (SISS) Championships in Methven (March 25–28).
Thanks to Zak’s specialised coaching, our riders are well-positioned to uphold the OBHS reputation for excellence at both the regional and South Island levels.
