Hostel Happenings

After last week's nail-biting, down-to-the-last-kick and very exciting win, many hostel boys have again signed up to go and support the Highlanders as they battle the Chiefs this Saturday night at 7.05pm. We all hope we can enjoy another victory and keep up this winning momentum.

The Rector has introduced Junior Prep, which will be held in the School Library for the rest of this term on Monday evenings. He hopes this will encourage sound study skills and enlighten the boys on how to best organise their study in a quiet environment.

Parents, please be aware that if you are making medical or dental appointments on behalf of your son, you should try to schedule these for after school to cause the least possible disruption. We need to work together to ensure that your son is not missing valuable class time. Thank you. Also, when booking buses to come home on Fridays, it is unacceptable for boys to regularly miss all of Friday afternoon at school. Please schedule travel for after 3pm whenever possible. The Ministry of Education’s expectation is for every student to have at least 90% attendance. This means they can miss only five days of schooling in a term.

We have had quite a few sick boys recently, including some with strep throat. It would be appreciated if you could please provide some Vitamin C or a multivitamin to help be proactive against the onset of illness.

Please double-check whether your son is fully immunised and let Matron know if he requires a booster.

Senior Man of the Week: Liko Edwards
Liko is a pleasure to have around. He is always polite and makes a mature effort to be respectful of others.

Junior Man of the Week: Oscar Brereton
Well done, Oscar, on a great start at School House. You are well organised, tidy, and cooperative.

Huxley Jones was delighted when his blazer came back with his Blues bands sewn on.

Congratulations to Mason Kingan, who recently competed in the Kathmandu Coast to Coast World Championships from Greymouth to Christchurch. He placed 5th in the schools category and a very impressive 27th out of 208 competitors in the Men's Open. A superb result.

A word from Matron:

Never let it rest
Until your good is better
And your better is your
