Pasifika Community Comes Together to Begin the Year

On Thursday, before the long weekend, new and current students and their parents met at school for the first time in a Pasifika-focused event.

The purpose of the fono is to provide an opportunity for our new Pasifika boys and their whānau to feel supported and welcomed to Otago Boys’. We fully understand and acknowledge the important role whānau play in supporting our boys in all aspects of their success while at school. For our Year 9 boys, this was a fantastic opportunity to spend time with us and with some of the senior students. Thank you to everyone for a very successful evening.

A big thank you to Lloyd Ma’ole and members of the Pasifika Parents Committee, Deputy Rector Nic Sullivan, and Faumuina Professor Fa'afetai (Tai) Sopoaga, Director of Va'a o Tautai, for attending and giving the boys inspiration for the year(s) ahead at Otago Boys’.
