Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts!
Recently we ran two fundraisers: the Frozen Cookie Dough and Croissants with Go Raise It, and SlumbrSpray in conjunction with a group of students from the OBHS Year 13 Business Class. We are delighted to share that these initiatives raised a combined profit of $1200, which will be used by the OBHS Music Department to help purchase a new mixing desk.
An excerpt from an email from Konrad Hanson, HOD Music:
“Thanks to the hard work and generosity of the PTA, we are able to put the funds towards a mixing desk for the new Music Suite, due to be completed in early 2026. The mixing desk will allow us to digitally link up with the practice rooms to record student performances and compositions, as well as create fantastic live performances for students and whānau to enjoy.
Earlier in the year, the senior students toured the Otago University Tūī Suite, where they were able to experience creating high-quality recordings and learn about the recording and mixing process. This is something we very much look forward to being able to do in the new Shand Suite. Alongside composition and performance, students will be able to develop skills as audio engineers and sound technicians.
In Music, we see the intersection of creativity, performance, art, science, and technology. We are grateful for all the time, money, and effort the school has invested in creating an amazing new space for our young men, and we are grateful to the PTA and school community for supporting us so we can make the most of the opportunity.”
Our annual truffle-making session will be held on Wednesday 3 December this year. Thank you to Emma and the team for allowing us to use the Food and Nutrition Room, and to the many people who have placed orders. We also extend our thanks to Murray Devereaux of Night ’n Day for his generous donation of truffle ingredients.
