Week 5 Hostel Update

By OBHS Hostel | Posted: Thursday November 6, 2025

Term 4 at School House is a different type of busy, with the focus on exams and all the associated end-of-year formalities.

Prizegiving last Thursday night saw four hostel boys honoured with prefect roles.
We are thrilled for Henry Chittock, Finlay Williamson, Toby McClean, and Robbie Nichol, who were named school prefects for 2026. Wonderful choices, and so good to see so many hostel boys on stage.

On Wednesday, 29th October, School House was transformed and looked amazing with white tablecloths, elegant dinner settings, decorations, and trimmings.

A huge thank-you to Donna and her diligent kitchen staff for the sumptuous Skippers Feast banquet. We all enjoyed an early Christmas meal as we formally farewelled our Year 13 boys.

Congratulations to Eddie Burgess, who was chosen by his fellow boarders as the recipient of the Senior Good Bugger Award, and George Dowling, who received the Junior Good Bugger Award—a top effort from both!

The Top Scholar Award this year went to Samuel Asher. Well done, Sam—how wonderful to have all your study and hard work acknowledged.

After much banter, speculation, and good-hearted rivalry, the Mitchell Cup House Competition winner for 2025 was Nicolson.

Exams are now underway, with boys coming and going on study leave.
Please note that Monday, 10th November, is a Teacher Only Day at school.

After an intense battle in the annual Rugby League clash between the Dayboys and the Hostel boys, I’m proud to announce that School House were the winners, 4–1, and returned to the hostel victorious.

Finally, congratulations again to Eddie Burgess for gaining this year’s Superior Lincoln University Scholarship. We wish you all the best for your future studies—what a positive way to finish your chapter at OBHS.
