Hands-On Experience Through Gateway

As part of the Otago Boys’ High School Gateway Programme, Year 13 student Felix Frew gained valuable insight into the butchery industry during his placement at Princes Street Butchery.

During my Gateway placement at Princes Street Butchery, I acquired valuable skills in meat preparation and the use of butchery tools, starting early each morning at around 7:00 a.m. My boss, Dave, and coworkers, Richard and Kyle, mentored me, teaching practical techniques and teamwork. I’m grateful to Princes Street Butchery for this opportunity and highly recommend the Gateway programme at Otago Boys’ High School for gaining real-world experience.
