Teacher Industrial Action

The PPTA (the union) has informed us about the impact of its strikes on our school during the week of 15 September (Week 10 of Term 3, 2025).

The union has advised our Board that its member teachers will refuse to teach certain year groups during this week as follows:

  • Monday 15 September – Year 12 and Year 13

  • Tuesday 16 September – Year 11

  • Wednesday 17 September – Year 10

  • Thursday 18 September – Year 9

The union refers to this as “rostering home.” While it is lawful for the union to take strike action by refusing to teach certain year levels on specific days, it is up to our School Board to decide what arrangements will be put in place for the affected students.

Please note that we are able to cover, with non-union staff and relievers, our senior examinations on Monday and Tuesday. Therefore, if your son is in Year 11, Year 12, or Year 13, he will have exams as normal.

If the action continues later in the week, the school does not have enough non-union members or relievers to keep the Year 9 and Year 10 classes running. As a result, these students will be rostered home only on the dates listed above — i.e., Year 10 on Wednesday and Year 9 on Thursday.

Thank you for your understanding. We are hopeful that the parties will be able to finalise the negotiations and that Term 4 will proceed without interruption.

Yours sincerely,
Richard Hall
