Otago Boys’ High School is offering students an exciting chance to take part in a 19-day educational trip to Vietnam and Cambodia in September/October 2026 (or April 2027).
The tour combines History, Geography, and Food, allowing students to extend their classroom learning through real-world experiences.
Highlights include a street food tour in Hanoi, an overnight Ha Long Bay cruise, a cooking class and village visit in Hoi An, and a homestay in the Mekong Delta. Students will also explore the Cu Chi Tunnels and War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, before crossing into Cambodia to visit Phnom Penh’s Royal Palace, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, and the Killing Fields. The trip concludes in Siem Reap, where students will tour Angkor Wat, local schools, and floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake.
The itinerary links directly to the curriculum. In Geography, students will examine urban development, climate change, tourism, and coastal erosion. In History, they will explore French colonisation, the Vietnam War, and Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge era. Food is woven throughout, with cooking classes, market visits, and studies of food systems and sustainability.
The cost is approximately $8500 per student, including all travel, accommodation, meals, activities, spending money and professional guides. Teachers and local representatives will accompany students to ensure a safe and rewarding experience.
This trip offers students more than travel . It is an opportunity to connect with global cultures, deepen their studies, and build life-long skills through hands-on learning.
