This week we welcomed back plenty of sore muscles, various aches and pains, and some very tired boys who had given their all during another successful tournament week.
Full credit to each of them for representing OBHS so well in their chosen sports—and for managing to crawl out of bed and get out the door to school on Monday morning. Some may have looked a little dishevelled, with eyes half open and only semi-conscious, but they made it!
A huge thank you to Howie, our very clever caretaker and very own MacGyver (for those of you old enough to recall that TV show). Howie has made some purpose-built boot cleaning blocks, so we now have specialised stations for cleaning all the muddy shoes and boots. These look impressive and will hopefully give the boys some much-needed motivation to get out the nugget.
Howie has also made wooden pegs for boys to hang up clothing items. These have been installed in Hawthorne and the Green Room, improving storage options where space is limited. Thank you, Howie! On top of that, he has also improvised some “made in China” table tennis bats into reinforced weapons that can handle the heat.
Congratulations to Ben Brown, who has been invited to play golf for the Otago Junior Golf team at a tournament this weekend.
Co-requisite exams will be held on September 10 and 11, with practice “mock” exams beginning next week. These are very valuable for boys to gauge where they are at and to give them a taste of what to expect in the real ones.
If your son is going home, please remember to put leave in now.
We also had our informal formal dinner this week. Thanks to the kitchen staff for the awesome meal, and a big thank you to @cameronmillar13 for coming in to chat with the boys—they all loved it.
