We are excited to announce the availability of a scholarship for the 2025 Outward Bound programme, funded by the Otago Community Trust.

This scholarship can be applied to the 21-day Mind Body Soul course:

Dates:

  • 19th September 2025 to 09 October 2025

  • 2nd December 2025 to 22nd December 2025 (limited places in December if students can’t attend in September)

The total fee for the 21-day course is $5,750. The scholarship covers $4,000, leaving a balance of $1,415.65 for the student.

Additional costs include transport to Picton for the course start and a doctor's appointment to complete the required medical form.

Year 12 students interested in applying for this scholarship or wanting to find out more about what is involved should contact Richard Harvey at [email protected] by August 15th.

Who Is This Course For?

Outward Bound is New Zealand’s leading organisation for helping people realise their full potential through outdoor challenges and adventure. The Outward Bound methodology is based on experiential learning—learning through doing. In practice, that means participants are responsible for the challenges they face.

To have a successful course:

  • Students are comfortable being away from home for 21 days.

  • Students are comfortable with being challenged mentally, physically, and emotionally.

  • Students understand and are aware of the growth opportunities available at Outward Bound.

  • Students are responsible and represent their school's values while at Outward Bound.

  • Students are able to return home and give back to their school and wider community after their time at Outward Bound.
