OBHS climbers reach new heights

With winter weather in Dunedin, the OBHS climbers have been happily expending their energies indoors.

This week, we held our termly climbing competition. There were outstanding performances in the Open Division, with Luca Verheul, Max Cutfield, and Flynn Richards placing first, second, and third respectively. In the Handicap Division, it was a very tight competition, with George Gardner and Max Cutfield finishing first equal, and Tyler Smith and Alexander Lea third equal. It was fantastic to have 25 boys climbing and giving it their all.

At the latest round of the National Indoor Bouldering Series, held in Auckland, Flynn Richards placed 5th in the Under 17 division. He is currently ranked 1st in the overall series. The final round will be held in Wellington, with some of our boys planning to travel for it.

Looking ahead to the Term 3 holidays, several boys will be taking part in the U17 and U19 Bouldering Nationals in Christchurch. This will be a significant step up in challenge and depth of competition.
