A group of enthusiastic students recently had the opportunity to participate in the Te Whatu Ora Southern / Pasifika Mapu o le Kaha’u 2025 programme — an initiative designed to inspire young people interested in Pasifika health careers.
The programme provided a unique insight into hospital life, guided by Pasifika health professionals who showed the students around various departments. Highlights included a visit to the Simulation Lab, where students observed realistic medical simulations, as well as learning about care in areas such as broken bones and neonatal units.
This hands-on experience gave students a glimpse of what it means to be a doctor, nurse, or health professional dedicated to caring for the Pasifika community. Many expressed excitement about the possibility of pursuing a health career themselves in the future.
We are proud to support our students as they explore opportunities to serve their communities through Pasifika health.
