We are thrilled to announce the fantastic results from our recent Common Assessment Activity (CAA) corequisite assessments in Reading, Writing, and Numeracy.
Our students are still achieving results significantly above the national average in all three areas.
Of our Year 10 students who took the Writing CAA assessment, 89% passed the test. This compares with the national pass rate of 66%* last year. Of the Year 10 students who sat the Reading CAA this time around, 77% passed, compared to the National pass rate of 70% for this assessment last year.
For Year 11, 82% have now passed the Reading CAA, 85% passed the Writing CAA, both well above national pass rates. 84% of our Year 11’s have now passed the Numeracy CAA, which is significantly higher than the national average of 55%.
This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, as well as the support and teaching from our staff and caregivers at home. These corequisite assessments are a key component of NCEA, and it's incredibly encouraging to see so many of our students demonstrating proficiency at this level.
What's next for students?
For any students who didn't quite pass this round, please know that feedback is now available for download through the NZQA portal and we recommend students download and review this information. Our teachers are here to support students with this.
It is important to understand that students currently have two ways to meet their NCEA literacy and numeracy requirements, one is through the CAA assessments referenced above and the other is by achieving specific, approved achievement across various NCEA subjects. However, while this additional pathway remains available for 2025 and 2026, the Common Assessment Activities (CAA) will become the sole pathway from 2027 onwards.
A further opportunity to sit these CAA assessments will be held on September 10th and 11th during our school exam sessions. Information about these exams will be shared next week.
Congratulations once again to all our students for their outstanding performance! We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to celebrating even more success in the upcoming assessment opportunities. Remember more information about these assessments is available on our school Corequaits website here.
