Saturday evening saw some fine musical talent on display at the combined Otago Girls’ and Otago Boys’ High Schools Jazz Rock Fusion evening.
The headline performance from the All Blues (OBHS/OGHS) Jazz Band was the highlight of the show. Pieces from artists like Steely Dan, Duke Ellington, the Count Basie Orchestra, and Madonna got the crowd going, and solos from Finn Marshall, Oban Voice, Callan Power, Nikita Lu, along with incredible vocals from Grace Tiko, stole the show.
With Rockquest looming, OBHS band Hold Up were invited to perform their set. They opened with Johnny B. Goode, a classic from Chuck Berry, followed by their original Waffle Ladden.
It was a great night of music. A huge thank you to the Dunedin Community Gallery for hosting, and a massive thank you to Eugene Shields, William Martin, and Otago Girls’ High for organising this event.
