The Art Department has been generously supported by the PTA to purchase a new printmaking press.
It was very exciting when it arrived, as it had to come from the United States and there had been some delay. The press enables us to create prints on a larger scale and extend our learning in this medium. Year 11 students are currently working on drypoint etchings as part of their NCEA coursework.
Tyler Smith was the first student to use the press and has produced a fine print of a fossilised shark tooth. Other high-quality examples are coming hot off the press and are revealed as we lift the layers of blankets after they have passed through.
