Students from Digital Technology, Design and Visual Communication (DVC), and Media Studies classes received an inspiring glimpse into the world of creative tertiary education this week, attending a special showcase hosted by the Otago Polytechnic School of Design in the school library.
The 20-minute presentation offered a dynamic overview of the diverse and exciting pathways available within design and technology fields at the polytechnic. Students were exposed to a range of disciplines, from cutting-edge digital media and web development to innovative product design and visual communication.
Ex-old boy, Max Challis spoke about his varied experiences designing for local buisnesses and gaining experience in a wide range of areas such a merchandise design, product design and digital branding. Max is now in his final year of his Bachelor of Design degree. The showcase aimed to connect their current high school learning with future study and career opportunities.
Showcases like this are crucial in helping secondary students visualise their potential career trajectories and understand the next steps in their educational journey.
The school extends its gratitude to Quinn Berentson from the Otago Polytechnic School of Design for taking the time to share his expertise and inspire the next generation of designers and technologists.
