Shave for a Cure is a nationwide initiative raising funds to support New Zealanders living with blood cancer and leukaemia.
Last Friday, June 6th, over 45 Otago Boys’ High School students braved the cold and rain in the school’s open-air theatre—and shaved their heads in solidarity with those facing these illnesses.
Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of our wider community, the school has raised over $21,000, with several students individually raising more than $1,000. An incredible achievement!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the students, staff, families, and community members who supported or donated to this amazing cause.
A special thank you goes to the local businesses who helped make the event possible:
Hair Hunters Barbershop (George Street), who kindly donated multiple clippers for use on the day.
Carol from Barber on the Move, who generously contributed additional clippers and supported the event’s success.
Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, who provided capes and other resources that helped make the day run smoothly.
We are incredibly proud of all the boys who took part—giving up their hair and facing the winter weather head-on to help others.
