The boys came out and sang some classic songs at our NZ Music Month Karaoke. To wrap up NZ Music Month, the OBHS Arts Council hosted a spirited karaoke session, where the boys took to the stage to sing some classic tunes. Thank you to everyone who came along, sang their hearts out, and supported May's celebration of Kiwi music.
There were plenty of memorable — and occasionally pitchy — performances, including Titanium, Sunday Morning, and a crowd-favourite rendition of Ye Canny Shove Yer Granny Aff a Bus, hilariously performed by our very own Ms. Kelly and Ms. Gorman.
Throughout May, the Arts Council has been dedicated to promoting New Zealand music. Events included the Talent Quest finals, a music quiz, and this week's karaoke session — all aimed at showcasing the richness of our local sound. In addition, two of our school bands competed in the RockQuest Regional Heats — a testament to the growing enthusiasm for homegrown music.
We hope these events have helped shine a spotlight on Aotearoa's vibrant music scene and inspired students to engage with it further.
Looking ahead, we're thrilled to support a range of upcoming performances, including the cast of Grease, HoldUp competing in the Otago RockQuest Regional Finals, and the Boys' and Combined Choirs at The Big Sing.
