The Year 13 Formal, held last Saturday night, was a resounding success.
Boys and their partners attended the occasion with positivity, decorum, impeccable attire and a willingness to embrace every inch of this rite of passage event. They socialised, they danced, they embraced the beauty of their youth and were a testament to themselves, their schools and their whānau.
Special thanks must go to our committed 2025 Formal Committee of: Brayden Thorburn, Charlie Ottrey, Eddie Burgess, Flynn Dalley, Flynn MacGill-Brown, Harry Humphrey, Jack Ussher, Liam Elder, Mikko Johnston, Murphy Best, Oliver MacKenzie and Toby Kerr. Their investment in, and commitment and dedication to the event, undoubtedly contributed to it being such a success.
Below you can read some of the thoughts from our 2025 Formal Committee crew:
Oliver MacKenzie:
“The 2025 OBHS Formal was a night to remember. The lights, the music, the dancing, the fancy dress. The hard work from our dedicated Formal team was well-rewarded by such an amazing night!! The hard work and dedication is a tribute to how the event ran so smoothly. A massive thank you to all those involved and a huge shout out to Gena Bagley for all her hard work and dedication behind the scenes to allow this event to happen!!!”
Jack Ussher:
“It was such a fun night - being with my friends and seeing everyone enjoying themselves made it really special.”
Liam Elder:
“Overall it was a vibe, and the enthusiasm from the boys was great to be a part of.”
Eddie Burgess:
“It was really good to see a collection of teachers turning up for the event, as the Rector had said "the most teachers ever." It was great to have it at a different venue and I was really happy to see so many of my mates turn up for a wonderful night at Errick's.”
Flynn Dalley:
“The pulled pork and the outdoor area at Errick’s were a highlight of the night. I also enjoyed the great yarns.”
