RYDA Road Safety Education Programme

On Tuesday, 27 May, Year 11 students took part in the RYDA Road Safety Education Programme at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin.

The day focused on developing safe attitudes and behaviours around driving, through a series of engaging workshops and real-life scenarios.

Students examined how factors such as emotions, peer pressure, and fatigue can influence driving decisions, and how small choices, like exceeding the speed limit by just 10 km/h, can lead to serious consequences.

One of the most powerful sessions was delivered by Anita, a car crash survivor, who shared her moving personal story. Her experience highlighted the devastating impact of distracted driving and reinforced the importance of making responsible choices behind the wheel.

Thank you to the RYDA team, along with all sponsors and volunteers, for delivering a valuable and thought-provoking experience that will remain with our students as they prepare to become safe and responsible road users.
