Toitu and 'Foodie' Tour of the Warehouse Precinct.

We started our tour at Total Food Equipment, where students were introduced to a variety of kitchen equipment, ranging from modern domestic appliances to commercial-grade tools.

We then walked to Toitū for a tour that highlighted connections to food production in Dunedin and Otago. A highlight was viewing the range of cooking equipment from the 1950s to the 1980s and exploring how technological advancements have changed the way people eat.

Next, we headed to Vogel Street, stopping at Moiety, The Tart Tin, Big Lizard, and Good Good for lunch.

The walking tour continued to Vogel Street Kitchen, No Name Alley, and Princes Street, where we visited the Princes Street Butcher. We concluded the tour at Heritage Coffee.

The purpose of the tour was to expose students to a different side of Dunedin’s food scene—one that stands in stark contrast to fast food outlets like McDonald's.
