We are thrilled to announce that Crew Wilson and Ropata Campbell have been named in the U15 New Zealand Development Softball Squad.
This is an incredible achievement and a proud moment for our school community. Crew and Ropata have shown exceptional talent, dedication, and sportsmanship—representing not just our school, but also their club Southern Magpies, their whānau, friends, and the wider Otago Region.
Their selection follows an outstanding season filled with hard-earned success:
Both were selected for the U17 Otago Representative Team, competing in Wellington earlier this year.
Ropata was named one of the Top 10 Batters in NZ U17.
Crew earned a coveted place in the NZ U17 Rest Team.
Their journey continued the very next week at the U15 tournament in Invercargill, where they represented their club team Magpie Ma and finished as Runners-Up.
Following this, both athletes were invited to trial for the U15 NZ Development Squad in Palmerston North in April. They took on the challenge with enthusiasm, sharpened their skills, and impressed national selectors with their performance and attitude.
Now, the next chapter awaits — Crew and Ropata will travel to Brisbane in July to represent New Zealand and compete against some of the best U15 players from across the Tasman.
