Futsal Finals

The Dunedin Secondary Schools' weekly futsal competition wrapped up after an exciting 8-week season.

This year saw a slightly revised format, with Division One teams playing full games with halves and culminating in finals to compete for trophies. Meanwhile, Division Two and the social grade followed a round robin format.

Otago Boys’ High School was strongly represented, with teams in both the Senior and Junior Division One finals. In the junior final, it was an all-OBHS affair as the Whites faced off against the Blues. The Whites capped off an unbeaten season with a convincing win, bringing home the silverware.

In the senior final, the OBHS Whites battled Logan Park High School in a tense match that went all the way to penalties. Even after every player had taken a shot, the teams remained locked — with Logan Park narrowly edging OBHS in sudden death.

With 14 OBHS teams taking part this term, futsal remains one of the school’s most popular sports. As the futsal season winds down, many players will now shift focus to the upcoming football season. A reminder to those yet to register to do so, and to ensure you're equipped with shin pads and OBHS football socks!
