Recently, NZQA released its nationwide school data, enabling us to make some comparisons with other schools in our region and across New Zealand.
We are pleased to announce that we stacked up very well in comparison to these schools, outperforming other boys' schools in the region in some key NCEA results for 2024.
Of particular note were both our Level 2 and UE pass rates. Our students achieved an impressive 90% pass rate for Level 2, placing them ahead of other boys' results in the region, which ranged from 79% up to 90%. Otago Boys’ High School also led the way in UE results, with an impressive 72% pass rate, higher than boys schools in the region and many of the schools we compare ourselves against throughout New Zealand. This reinforces our strong academic performance at the graduating level and our effective programmes to prepare students for tertiary study. We are proud that when compared with other boys’ schools across New Zealand, OBHS remains highly competitive.
These results reflect the dedication of our students, the expertise of our teachers, and the support from our wider school community. As we continue to set high standards, we remain committed to academic excellence and preparing our students for future success. Congratulations once again to all our students for their hard work and achievements.
