This week, the Southern Region Futsal Tournament took place at the Edgar Centre, with Otago Boys' High School proudly fielding four teams—two senior and two junior.

With more schools competing this year, including Lincoln High School and Waitaki Boys’ in the senior division, the competition was fierce.

After mixed results on the opening day, both senior teams battled through tough, physical matchups to secure spots in the final, showing great discipline against bigger opponents and some marginal challenges. Meanwhile, the junior teams were dominant in their performances, also earning their places in the junior final.

It was a remarkable achievement for all four teams to reach their respective finals, and Otago Boys' capped off an incredible tournament by winning both the senior and junior competitions. Individual accolades followed, with Victor Rivollet and Hunter Hathaway claiming the Golden Boot awards in the junior and senior divisions, respectively.

Several players delivered standout performances across the tournament, and the opposition recognised the following boys as their team's Most Valuable Player (MVP):

  • Senior Blue: Fraser Anderson

  • Senior White: Ryan Walker

  • Junior White: Eli Des Fountain

  • Junior Blue: Logan Jolly

A huge thank you to the parents who came along to support the teams and to Steve Brown for his dedication in managing the boys throughout the tournament.

Congratulations to all players on an outstanding tournament!
