On Wednesday, 5 March 2025 the Year 13 Business Studies students activated their participation in the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme for 2025.
The basic premise of YES is for students to create and run their own businesses – they must create, produce and sell a product or service during the course of the year.
This year OBHS along with other schools in Dunedin were hosted at the Dunedin Public Library for the official launch of the nationwide school competition. The idea of the Spark Tank Event was for Business South in conjunction with YES HQ to pitch the competition to this year’s students. It was also an opportunity for teams to validate their business start-up ideas with mentors from the Dunedin business community.
2025 will see OBHS enter ten teams in the nationwide competition. Teams will compete for spot-prizes throughout the year as well as Regional and National Excellence Awards.
If you would like to be involved with supporting the boys involved in this year’s competition in a mentoring capacity please contact Mr Gwyn Pratley OBHS TiC Business Studies/Commerce/Economics on his school email address [email protected]
