I would like to introduce our Library Leadership Team for 2025.

Arya is our new Head Librarian, and Oban is Deputy Head Librarian. Both have contributed a lot of their time and energy into helping out in the library over the years, and I am excited to see them step into this leadership role.

I sat down with Arya this week to discuss all things reading:

Q: How would you describe yourself as a reader?

A: Maybe not as avid as others, but I like to pick a series and read through it. I like to choose books that challenge me.

Q: Outside of reading, what are your hobbies and interests?

A: I am very much into Dungeons and Dragons, and - as a classic literature stereotype - I enjoy writing poems and fantasy based short stories. I also enjoy theatre, improv, and making assignments as theatre-based as possible.

Q: What do you enjoy most about reading?

A: Escapism. I like going into a different world with a different system - it’s fascinating and awesome.

Q: What are some challenges you face with your reading?

A: Time - finding time out of school is very difficult when social media/netflix/the internet exists. I try to commit time to reading but it is something you have to decide for yourself, and just sit down and do.

Q: What are you reading right now?

A: The Way of Kings, by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a really good high-fantasy book with Sanderson’s classic and weird magic system.

Q: What is your all-time favourite book?

A: A book that really impacted me and my outlook on being Queer is Loveless, by Alice Oseman. A very interesting romance book, that isn’t actually about romance.
