Athletics Day

It was a great day of weather, fantastic house colours and participation across the houses.

The competition between the Houses was fierce from the outset. Huge numbers lined up for the 100m and 200m. Each house had at least 3 races for every age group with only the fastest 8 overall qualifying for the afternoon’s finals. This set the tone for the day in both field and track events, with large numbers competing across the board.

With the staff fully engaged, measuring, timing, and recording results and the house colours standing out in the grandstand the time seemed to fly by. The annual 100kg, 100m race was well received by the crowd. As always, the blue ribbon 200m and 100m finals brought the crowd to its feet and were quickly followed by the house relays.

All students were competing to the best of their ability, with house points on the line in all events. There was competitiveness, encouragement and lots of enjoyment throughout the day. Well, done to everyone for the spirit shown and the effort maintained in the warm conditions.

It was awesome to see so many parents there to watch their sons compete.

In the end, Saxon House came through comfortably with Park 2nd, Aspinall 3rd and McIndoe in last position.
