Welcome back to everyone for the 2025 school year.
Our library is located at the heart of the school. We are open from 8am-4pm each school day, and students are welcome to use the space before and after school and at break times.
We have a wide collection of books for lending. Students can borrow up to five books at a time, and the standard lending period is three weeks.
Self-management is an important part of high school life, and I encourage the boys to take responsibility for keeping track of their own lending. Overdue reminders are sent regularly, and go to students directly in the first instance. If you receive an overdue notice as a parent, please know that your son should have received at least two notices prior to that.
We have a small number of school Chromebooks that can be issued to students if they forget to bring their device to school. These are daily issues only and they are to be returned at the end of each school day. These devices should really only be used in one-off situations, and if a longer-term school device is required, boys will be directed to our IT manager.
In addition to our lending services, students can also use the library for printing and photocopying, doing homework, playing a board game or a game of cards with their friends, or finding a quiet place to read, rest, or recharge during their break times. Keep an eye out for exciting events and competitions throughout the year.
Finally, a big part of my role as school librarian is to support boys with their reading. Reading regularly and choosing reading material that is both interesting and challenging will set students up for academic success, and I am here to make sure that our boys can find the reading material that suits them best. Like physical training, reading is a skill that is developed through practice, so I encourage students to establish good reading habits. Setting aside 15-30 minutes a day for reading, free from other distractions, is a good goal.
For any questions, concerns, or requests for the library, I can be contacted by email at [email protected].
