OBHS Rowing update

By OBHS Rowing | Posted: Monday January 27, 2025

The OBHS rowers have recently returned from a week in Twizel.

The regatta went smoothly and there were some great results on the water. Following that, the boys settled into their intensive training camp. They had three sessions a day on the water with a focus on technique, endurance, speed work and the dreaded seat racing. Alongside their amazing coaching team, they were lucky to have coaches Rachel and Richard who spent time on and off the water with the boys and provided some great guidance and helpful tips.

The boys gave everything their all, and were focused and great fun to have on camp. They are a credit to their families, and they should be incredibly proud of the young men they are growing into.

At the end of the week there were some very tired boys! They have earned a well-deserved rest and will need time to reboot after an intense week - lots of food, water and feet up.

Thanks to: The amazing team of parent helpers who worked tirelessly from well before the sun got up until late into the night to cook, clean, patch up, drive, organise and water the squad. Marty and Charlotte at the farm who are constantly supportive of the OBHS rowers. Robyn who organised all the yummy food deliveries and menus. Gizelle for organizing and running the fundraising raffle (results will be out soon). Katrina who puts this rowing jigsaw puzzle together to get everyone and everything where it needs to be.

Thomas, Lauren, Matt, Beth and Cam (who probably needs the most rest); thank you for giving up your holidays to spend a week coaching our boys, the boys and parents are very grateful for all you do in guiding them through their rowing journey.
