Above the Hoops Awards 2024

“He has honour if he holds himself to an ideal of conduct” (Walter Lippmann, writer and political commentator).

At Junior Prizegiving, 45 outstanding young men were awarded the Above the Hoops Badge. This is the final of the Junior Values Badges and can only be earned by Year 10 students. It is given in recognition of the fact that a boy has gained all of the values badges for two years running. This means that his effort and engagement in class have been exemplary and that he has made an impression on his teachers such as to merit them taking time out of their busy schedules to write postcards and award house points.

These are young men whose whanau can be especially proud of them but most importantly they are young men who should be proud of themselves. Amongst these young men are, no doubt, some future leaders in the school and we will watch their progress and growth with interest. They should now hold themselves to this ideal of conduct as they advance into the senior school where they will serve as role models to younger students.
