A Message from the Rector

Junior Prizegiving - Tuesday, 10 December at 10.30am.

I wanted to, in my last message for 2024, encourage as many of our community as possible to attend the Junior School Prizegiving, not only to support those who are getting awards, but to also acknowledge those people who have done so much to make the year successful, our staff.

Our teaching, support and hostel staff take pride in the work that they do. They toil daily, in the evenings, at night and over the weekends to give your son the best learning opportunities any school offers. They strive to be the best practitioners they can be.

There are too many examples of their selfless behaviour to mention, but I think it is important that we acknowledge they exist. One of the things I would encourage you to do is to get your son to acknowledge the staff who have helped him, not with gifts, but with a simple handshake, eye contact and the words; 'Thank you for looking out for me this year'.

The Prizegiving will be short, as short as it can be with over 300 boys crossing the stage, and no, not everyone gets an award, but we celebrate all of the students who are present by the fact that they are present, and that adds to our culture.

I hope to see you all on Tuesday, and if I do not, I want to thank you for your support of our staff and of our school, we are a community and a very healthy one, because we are a community.
