10H recently enjoyed their belated camp to the Otago Boys' High School Lodge.
Despite a few absentees from the class group, three students from other Year 10 classes joined us and proved to be fantastic additions.
The camp was a showcase of teamwork, resilience, and positive attitudes, especially from those with little prior experience in the outdoors. Activities on the camp included tramping, a day walk on the re-opened Rob Roy Glacier Track, swimming, kayaking, clearing the trap line, and the camp keystone - the overnight camp. It was rewarding to see the boys embrace these challenges, growing in confidence and enjoying what was for many completely new experiences.
The group was cooperative and compliant throughout the week, often entertaining themselves with lively games of table tennis during their downtime. They were also one of the rare groups to settle quickly and quietly to bed each evening, which added to the smooth running of the camp.
A special mention goes to Mr. Roe for expertly leading an action-packed week with fantastic food, and to Mr. Wright for his memorable appearance in a ghillie suit, testing night vision goggles in a night time escapade. Though the week began and ended with rain, the otherwise beautiful weather further added to the enjoyment of this memorable adventure.
