Last night saw the finals of the Dunedin Secondary Schools Water Polo Competition.
Having convincingly won their semi-finals last week, both the OBHS A and OBHS B teams went into last night's final games with high hopes and in good spirits. Our A team finished second place in the competition but at this time of year, we have already lost several of our top Year 13 players. The B team players who played up in this final fought hard throughout the match and gave a valiant effort.
The B team final against Taieri was a great match, closely fought in the first two quarters with OBHS dominating in the final two quarters to come away with an 8-4 victory. They also retain the first-place trophy that they won in Term 1. Man of this match is shared between Todd Darling, for some top goalkeeping, and Sam Hobbs who scored 4 out of the 8 goals!
The OBHS B team has dominated the Dunedin competition this year and there has been a huge amount of development in these boys thanks to the ever-capable coaching of Mr Paul Wagner and the time put into them by Johnathon King (Year 13) and Aleks Kivilevs (Year 12). In true OBHS style, these boys have given back to develop the future of water polo at the school. We thank them for their efforts.
