Every Thursday this term, we have been checking the beehives.
During these checks, we have been looking for the queens, eggs, brood, and varroa. Identifying these certain parts of a beehive is very important in keeping the hives well and healthy.
Throughout our time beekeeping this term, our knowledge about bees has grown a lot. Starting off, we knew little to nothing about bee colonies and how they worked. Now, we are able to easily identify the queen and even what bees do what jobs around the hive.
Our next step is to harvest the honey to sell.
Beekeeping has been a great experience so far and we strongly encourage anyone to volunteer to give us a hand.
