Otago Boys’ High School wishes to acknowledge and thank the many businesses that supported the Gateway experience for our senior students in 2024.
Our timetabled students spend one day a week for up to twenty weeks matched in a business to explore a pathway into that vocational career. This experience was supported by learning in the classroom towards students' NCEA record of learning.
Local businesses invested time, skills, and resources to provide our students with unpaid work experience. These workplace opportunities confirmed the choice of vocational pathways for many students. The outcomes of being part of the Gateway program included some students securing employment and apprenticeships with their host. A group of students are continuing their learning at Otago Polytech in their chosen industry and two of our students are continuing their learning at university in 2025.
A big thank you to Kimberly Cross who was our employer liaison this year arranging placements and keeping in touch with our employers daily to check student progression placement.
The class of 2025 has been selected and we look forward to supporting them on their journey to finding the right vocational pathway and further educational choices for them.
