Our OBHS boys achieved some amazing results at the South Island Teams and Individuals Badminton Championships held in Southland from 7-11 October.

Levi Lu (Year 9) delivered an exceptional performance at the South Island U15 Individuals Badminton Championships, smashing his way to win the elusive triple crown! Levi won three titles across the U15 Boys’ Singles, U15 Boys’ Doubles, and U15 Mixed Doubles.  Levi’s victories in three different categories reflect not only his technical abilities but also his mental resilience.  His aggressive attacking play and defensive coordination were key in securing his first place finish in his Singles and Mixed Doubles.  Levi’s teamwork and resilience helped him and his Doubles partner claw back from the edge of defeat to claim the title in an exciting three set finish, at one point they were 2-9 down on the third set, their determination paid off – winning the U15 Boys’ Doubles final 16-21, 21-18, 21-15.

Other notable placings go to Jayden Lu (Year 11) placing 2nd in the U17 Boys’ Singles and Joseph Chen (Year 12) first place in the U17 Mixed Doubles.

6 OBHS Boys represented Otago at the South Island Badminton Teams Championship:

Levi Lu (Year 9), 2nd Place - Team Otago U15 Gold

Silas Pajarillo (Year 9), 5th Place – Team Otago U15 Blue
