Junior Leadership Workshop

Just because you are a junior student doesn’t mean you can’t be a leader in the school.

On Thursday, 17 October, a group of Year 9 and 10 boys participated in an engaging leadership workshop in the library. This is the first step to providing the junior boys with more opportunities to lead.

This was organised by Fergus, our 2024 Head Boy, and involved 2023 Deputy Head Boy, Matthew Bolter who gave a speech. Tips were shared on how to start getting involved within the school community; through joining groups, planning events, navigating decisions, and creating a schedule. The boys then split off and wrote down some ideas in each of the academic, sport, cultural, house and service areas of the school, with some good new ideas brought up that they can use in the future.

This workshop aimed to get junior boys interested and involved with decisions around the school; to help them get their voices heard, to give them platforms to create change and to help gain experience for any future leadership roles they wish to pursue.

The junior school will eventually go on to lead OBHS, so it’s vital we give them the tools they need to create similar opportunities in the school for years to come, leaving a lasting legacy on the school.
