Alex Corbett reports on his Gateway experience

Every week I have work experience with a crew of engineers at Fulton Hogan.

I have gained new skills and knowledge as I worked alongside the team, making the day interesting and pass by quickly. 

I have participated in tasks such as: 

• Checking the services under the road

• Installing and repairing drainage systems

• Removal of temporary speedbumps

• Footpath construction

• Installing road signage

The key skills I have learned from the Gateway program are the importance of planning and diagrams, attention to detail and problem solving. While out on this program, I hope to gain a better insight and understanding of a regular day's work for engineers and a variety of trades.
