Gateway 2025

Following up from Subject Selection Evening and enquiries this is a reminder to students who wish to be considered for the Gateway experience in 2025 to complete their applications by Friday, 27 September.

All applications must be submitted through The Applying for Gateway 2025 Google Classroom.

The code for students to access and join the classroom is oyx3qok.

Students can add their parents/caregiver to this classroom and parents/caregivers can assist boys with their applications. Priority will be given to Year 13 students in 2025.

Below are the instructions and timeline for the Gateway Application Process.
Record as much detail as possible on your application form. We need to be able to offer where possible, a range of experiences to accommodate students. You need to be able to cope with up to twenty days off timetable to gain work experience and still meet your academic obligations across other subjects. There is an expectation that you will secure 20 NCEA credits from Unit Standards attached to Gateway which are spread across NCEA Levels One, Two, and Three. There are 15 Gateway places for 2025.

Applications will be considered by a panel and you may be required to attend a meeting with a panel member or Ms. Irving if we need to clarify your choices and suitability. 

The Timeline and Process


1. 11 September- Senior Subject Information Evening. Applications go live on Google Classroom.


2. 20 September- Applications advertised through the School Newsletter and Facebook page.


3. 27 September -Applications close.


4. Confirmation that your application has been received will be sent out via comments from Google Classroom.


5. NZQA, interim report effort grades, attendance data, and vocational choice will be collated by Ms Irving.


6. The panel of Mr. Hall, Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Harvey, and Mr. Swan will meet early in term four.


7. 25th October onwards- Students will be advised by email of their selection, and alternative pathway opportunities available to them offered or declined.


8. 29th October- Successful students will be contacted by Ms. Irving to realign their timetables to fit Gateway into it as a subject in 2025. This will be uploaded onto KAMAR timetables by Ms Gorman.


9. 8th November - Provisional letters will be sent for Gateway 2025. Placement is subject to the outcome of external examination results. Conditional offers and matching with 2025 employers commences by Ms Cross.


10. Consent forms from parents/caregivers are to be returned to Ms. Irving by email for placement matching for 2025 site visits to approve/vet new 2025 employers commence.
