Gateway Placement 2024 -Afiq Rizal

This year I have had the opportunity to work in the automotive industry through my Gateway experience.

I am hosted by Cooke Howlison Toyota who specialise in the sale and service of a wide variety of Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Every Thursday from 8am to 5pm, I am paired with an experienced mechanic and work on a range of vehicles doing oil changes, brake services, and general vehicle maintenance.

In the short amount of time I have been on placement, I have learnt so much about the inner workings of cars and trucks, like how to diagnose and fix common issues and what to look out for when I buy my own car in the future. I have always been interested in working in an engineering field, and working alongside the friendly staff at Cooke Howlison has been very helpful for me in deciding what path I would like to pursue after school.
