MS Otago provides support, information, advocacy and education to those in our community affected by Multiple Sclerosis and other related conditions - including teenagers, families, employers, care providers and the elderly.
MS is sometimes called “the invisible disease” due to its many varied and often silent symptoms.
In New Zealand there are nearly 5,000 people living with MS, with an incidence rate 3.8 times higher in the lower South Island than in the top of the North Island.
There is a good chance that there are people living with MS within the school community that you are not even aware of.
To ensure we can continue to have access to our services for our community we are running a fundraising event called Move for MS on Sunday the 6th of October at Wingatui Racecourse.
This is an all ages, accessible fun run style event with 1, 3 and 5 km options with spot prizes.
This event will also have activities, entertainment and games, food trucks and a small market.
Our aim for this event is to increase awareness of Multiple Sclerosis within the wider community as well as raise some much-needed funds to enable us to continue to offer the support that we do.
All funds raised in Otago, stay in Otago.
